The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.

By becoming accredited five years ago, Saratoga PLAN’s management, record-keeping, transactional requirements, and land stewardship efforts have benefited enormously from knowing and incorporating the best standards and practices. Because of the significant improvement in quality and credibility as a non-profit organization and as a land trust, PLAN is better prepared for the perpetual responsibilities it accepts when conserving a tract of land.

As Saratoga PLAN approaches its five-year renewal anniversary for accreditation, the Commission has invited the public to comment on how Saratoga PLAN complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
