barkersville trails project
Saratoga PLAN has the opportunity to protect a 168-acre property straddling the Galway-Providence town line in the hamlet of Barkersville. Formerly a training ground for sled dogs, the property's winding trails lead to trickling brooks, moss covered boulders and fields of ferns awaiting exploration and protection.
The owners of this lush, wooded wonderland would like to donate a conservation easement, valued at $420,000, in order to protect the property so that it remains a permanently undeveloped, explorable forest. The property will provide public access so that others can enjoy the trails, hopefully including equestrian access as well.
If you care about the air you breathe, water you drink, food you eat, places in which you recreate and the wildlife that inhabits them, supporting this Barkersville project is an actionable way to protect the resources that sustain you.
In order to accept this generous donation, Saratoga PLAN must raise $21,000 more (as of 06/19) to cover the project’s $65,000 total for transaction costs (such as title insurance, legal fees, boundary survey) and to fund the Stewardship Fund to ensure PLAN can uphold our land stewarding responsibilities in perpetuity.
To make a secure contribution online please use the form below. We also accept payment by credit card over the phone (518-587-5554) or you may mail a check made payable to Saratoga PLAN, 112 Spring Street, Room 202, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Donors of $250 or more will be invited to a
personal tour of the property lead by PLAN staff.
Thank you for supporting conservation
