barkersville trails project
(Photos by Frieda Garrison) Saratoga PLAN has the opportunity to protect a 168-acre property straddling the Galway-Providence town line in the hamlet of Barkersville. Formerly a training ground for sled dogs, the property has a well-designed trail system already in place.
The owners would like to donate a conservation easement, valued at $420,000, over the property so that it remains wooded and permanently undeveloped, and provides public access so that others can use and enjoy the trails; hopefully including equestrian access as well. In order to accept this generous donation, Saratoga PLAN must raise $21,000 more (as of 11/18) to cover the project’s $65,000 total for transaction costs (such as title insurance, legal fees, boundary survey) and to fund the Stewardship Fund to ensure we can uphold our responsibilities in perpetuity.
To make a secure contribution online please use the form below. We also accept payment by credit card over the phone (518-587-5554) or you may mail a check made payable to Saratoga PLAN, 112 Spring Street, Room 202, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Donors of $250 or more will be invited to a personal tour of the property lead by PLAN staff.
