Many supporters of the trail and the crossing were in attendance, including Barbara Glaser who was instrumental in getting the Spring Run Trail built and Todd Shimkus, President of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. The new crossing connects Spring Run to Excelsior Park, just north of where the trail passes under Eureka Drive. Part way across the wetlands there is a larger viewing area, for enjoying the scenic surroundings. The ruins of an old spring house can be seen just east of the boardwalk.
