  • Help Save Boyhaven

    You Can Help Save Boyhaven Saratoga PLAN is working with Friends of the Kayaderosseras and other community members in the Town of Milton who wish to preserve Camp Boyhaven as a public recreational and natural area. The Town of Milton’s attempt to purchase and preserve Camp Boyhaven as public open space for passive recreation is in trouble following the withdrawal of a $500,000 donation from an anonymous donor.   • Conservation Partnership Grants Awarded to PLAN

    At a statewide land trust gathering in Albany on April 24, Saratoga PLAN received $64,000 in Conservation Partnership Program grants. The grants were part of approximately $2.3 million in support for 51 nonprofit land trusts announced by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance (LTA). LTA administers the Conservation Partnership Program in partnership with the DEC.   Read More 

  • Protecting the Land You Love

    “Let’s go on a hike,” she said after a hectic day of work, carpool and helping kids with homework. We headed for our local “go-to” trail, where the stress drifted away on a light breeze that also lifted a hawk up into the blue sky. The only sounds were our footsteps and the rustling of trees overhead. We were walking close to home on land protected by a conservation easement and stewarded in perpetuity by Saratoga PLAN.   Read More 

  • Bog Meadow Trail Improvements Announced

    On April 17, 2018, on the boardwalk of the Bog Meadow Brook Nature Trail, Saratoga PLAN announced the start of three improvement projects that will enhance the 25-year old walking path to make it drier, smoother, safer, and more accessible. PLAN Executive Director Maria Trabka and Stewardship Coordinator Greg Redling described the significance of the trail and the type of work that would be done. Joining in the announcement were numerous supporters, including early volunteers Cynthia Behan and Jeff Olson, the Mayor of Saratoga Springs, Meg Kelly, and the Administrator of Parks, Open Lands, Historic Preservation, and Sustainability, Tina Carton.   • Grant Received to Help Farmland Owners

    In late March, Saratoga PLAN was awarded a $50,000 grant from the new Land Trusts Grants program, administered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM). In awarding the grant, Commissioner Richard A. Ball noted that some of the goals of the grant include enhancing the inventory of viable farmland in Saratoga County and developing farmland access outreach activities to assist landowners and farmers.
