Ramsdill Park was purchased
by the City of Saratoga Springs in 2001. Saratoga PLAN
holds a conservation easement on the property. The new
park preserves public access to Lake Lonely and the Kayaderosseras
Creek at the Lake Lonely Boat Livery on Crescent Avenue.
Ramsdill Park also includes 30 acres of land along Kayadeross
Avenue East and the Lake Lonely Outlet to preserve the
natural watershed and the scenic rural character of this
area of the city.
One half of the costs to preserve this land and waterfront
access were provided by a grant from the New York State
Environmental Protection Fund. The remainder of project
costs were provided by the City of Saratoga Springs and
contributions from Lester Ramsdill III. Saratoga PLAN
coordinated the project.
While the Lake Lonely Boat Livery is open for boat
rentals, launching, and fishing supplies, currently there
are no trails, docks or other facilities on parkland.
Lake Lonely and its outlet are accessible from the Livery.
PROJECT STATUS
The next step in developing this new public park will
be to create an official management plan. First, a natural
resources inventory will be complete so that all important
features of the property are identified (wetlands, important
views, archaeological features, etc.).
