Green Infrastructure Plan Brochure
Current Information Green Infrastructure Plan- Regional Workshops II to be held Saratoga County and Behan Planning Associates, consultant for the project, will be holding a series of regional workshops around Saratoga County. The workshops will allow for presentation of Draft recommendations and opportunty to receive further public feedback. The workshops will focus on the draft County Vision and Green Infrastructure goals for four categories:
The plan will include a strategic action strategy that will recommend Actions needed to accomplish Green Infrastructure goals. Potential funding sources, tools and techniques, and recommendations for local communities utilization of vaious tools, funding to fuel implementation activities will also be a critical section of the plan. An important portion of the plan will be dedicated to local community implementation of recommendations- a Local Guide to the Green Infrastructure Plan that will provide answers and ideas as to how communities can use this plan and contribute to the Green Infrastructure Planning Efforts.

In short, this substantial effort will identify and prioritize for conservation an intact network of open space, trails and natural resources.
How does green infrastructure planning differ from traditional grey infrastructure?

Saratoga PLAN was instrumental in bringing the need for a comprehensive Countywide planning effort to Saratoga County’s attention and effectively putting forth the desired components to be included in such an effort. The Saratoga County Land Protection Committee will oversee the 12-month planning process. The committee consists of representation from four towns within the County: Willard Peck, Supervisor, Town of Northumberland, Arthur Johnson, Supervisor, Town of Wilton, David Meager, Supervisor, Town of Malta, Phillip Barrett, Supervisor, Town of Clifton Park, and three environmental organizations: David Miller of New York Audobon, and Lynn Schumann of Lake George Land Conservancy. The third community organization slot is currently unfilled.
Critical to the plan’s success are the participation and involvement of local officials and residents. Public outreach will be a major component of the effort with public workshops, focus groups and interactive meetings to be held in three different parts of the community. A youth workshop will also be held to integrate participation from future leaders and taxpayers of the county.
Creating a transition to implementation of the plan recommendations will also be focused on within the planning effort. It is anticipated that Saratoga County will continue to work with public and private partners in ensuring that our natural systems remain viable and connected as the county continues to experience growth. Saratoga PLAN has pledged to continue to be a critical partner in the implementation phase of the effort.
