Marshall DesRoches Letterbox
“The Hunt for Planks”
Galway Preserve
Start:
At the first yellow trail sign walk 112 paces along the trail until you reach a fork in the trail. At the fork go right and walk 200 paces to the first bridge, you may have to veer right to find the bridge. From the beginning of the bridge walk 55 paces, until you reach another bridge. Now walk thirty seven paces from the beginning of that bridge to another fork in the trail, don’t go right. From this left, find an old brown shack 55 paces away, but continue walking for another 43 paces. When you reach this spot, look right and walk five paces into the woods to an old stone grill. Starting at the old stone grill, there is a hill that rises into the woods. Travel up that hill for 75 paces to find the first set of wooden planks. From these planks, looking downhill, travel to your left for 36 paces to find the next set of planks. These planks will be more in tact than the first set. From the second set of planks you will be moving down the hill in search of a large rock. The rock is approximately 55-60 paces down the hill and 20 paces to the right. The rock is located on the edge of the trail, so once you find it, move onto the trail to be prepared for the next set of clues. Once on this trail, walk 37 paces to the left, further down the trail. The thirty-seven paces will reveal the third set of wood planks on your right, which are also in tact. From this structure, walk 28 paces to find a pile of broken planks, also on your right. Further along the trail there are fallen trees forty-two paces away. Once you have gone 42 paces, STOP!!!!!! Look into the woods at the fallen trees. Walk twelve paces from the trail, to the tree in the middle. Inside the hollowed out trunk is what you have been searching for.
